Automotive & Smart Mobility Challenge
The Automotive & Smart Mobility Challenge is a 12-week accelerator program that gives participants hands on experience in commercialization and entrepreneurship.
Modeled off the successful Scipreneur Challenge for the life science industry, this program provides entrepreneurship training to students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers, and founders using intellectual property (IP) developed at Tennessee’s premier research institutions. The program begins with a showcase of IP from institutions including Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, Tennessee Tech University and more. Teams form mock companies around each technology and develop a commercialization plan, including a business proforma and a 10- to 15-minute investor pitch. Over the course of eight weeks, local experts teach seminars on subjects such as marketing and finance to help the teams fine-tune their company strategies.
The program culminates in a pitch competition for a cash prize and admission to TennSMART’s Smart Mobility Mentor Network.
